October Jumper KAL

I have never knit a jumper. Yikes. I'm a bit scared. It sounds complicated! What if after all the work (and yarn!) it doesn't fit?!

To get me over this, our lovely Wednesday evening Knit Night ladies suggested a 'Knit a long' (KAL)! This just means that we will all knit the same pattern at the same time - which lets us all help each other.

Luckily, you don't have to come to our knit group to participate (but we would love it if you did!). Just get your pattern, wool and start knitting! We'll post progress pictures and want to see yours too!

Post with the hashtag: #YOAjumperKAL

As long as you start in October, that's what counts. No pressure to finish by a certain deadline.

Ok down to business. Here's what you'll need to get started:

Pattern: Pavement by Veera Välimäki

This is a very basic pattern using circular needles as you will knit in the round from the neck down. You add the sleeves after you've made the body so you could make them another color if you like.

Wool

Then you'll need your wool. The pattern calls for 4-ply so here are a few suggestions from our shop:

Malabrigo Sock

Many people have used this yarn to make this pattern so we know it works well! I'm using it myself.

Anniversario
Indecita
Persia
Whale's Road
Peidras
Caribeno

Juniper Moon Farm Fine

This is a very thin yarn, classified as a 3-ply, so be aware your jumper will be thinner. It is gorgeous soft Alpaca and and bit of nylon which will hold up well in the washing machine.

Lakeville
Travertine
Deep Plum Passion
Monterey Bay

Other options include:

West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4-ply - although I would only use the solids, I'm not sure how the sock self-striping would look on a jumper?

Juniper Moon Farm Herriot - this is a double knit weight, but it's a thin double knit, so it might work as a 4-ply.

West Yorkshire Spinners Wenslydale - this is also a thin double knit that might work.
